Cant allocate space

i'm trying to upload 250,000 records
Error : 1105, Severity: 17, State: 2
Can't allocate space for object 'Syslogs' in database 'clearance_data' because the 'logsegment' segment is full. If you ran out of space in Syslogs, dump the transaction log. Otherwise, use ALTER DATABASE or sp_extendsegment to increase the size of the segment.
what i'm planning to do is to add a new hard drive to the server, but HOW?

You might consider trying some of the following:
Temporarily set the DB 'clearance_data' to truncate on checkpoint until you have loaded your data.
Add or increase the size of the existing transaction log for DB 'clearance_data'.
I assume you are loading 250,000 records into the the DB 'clearance_data'? (If so, try loading fewer records at any one time e.g., load 10 25,000 record data subsets, instead of all 250,000 at once.)
To clear the error 'logsegment' segment is full try: Dump Log 'clearance_data' with Truncate_Only

A1 This time the error (with the image zip) was "images.zip: Either multipart or corrupt ZIP archive."
A2 You may not actually be able to use 100% of the new volume's free space, (even implementing raw partion devices), but generally, yes.
Note: It appears likely that you have separate devices for both DB Log and DB Data (if so, a good thing). In your particular situation, (if you must perform a single large operation in one step); you must provide the DB LOG sufficient space to complete the operation. Obviously, there must also be sufficient room for the actual DB data itself, as well; so it is possible you may also need to provide additional free data device space to successfully complete your load operation. The reason for mentioning this (in this manner) is that Sql Server 6.x allowed the co-mingling of Log / Data on the same device (generally not a desirable configuration, for a number of reasons).|||I tried downloading the file... yes it was corrupted

A1 I'm not sure exactly what you are asking (I had assumed hardware mirroring, are you using Sql Server DB mirroring? If so I believe you must break the mirror before altering the DB, then remirror subsequently if possible.). If not, as I recall, you may do everything necessary from Sql EM once the new drive volume is available (visible) to the OS (unless maybe, you have done some intersting things with segments). You could use tsql in isqlw as well, for example: (not tested)

Cant "SELECT" using CREATED_DATE column...help
What format is this to where I can't find records (that I know are
there) using this date "2005-09-29 23:58:00".
Here is the SELECT that I use that doesn't work:

If the Created_Date is of datetime format, then use
SELECT Col1, Col2, ...-- Don't use SELECT * !!!

Temporal data types are not strings, so you cannot use string functions
on them.

Cannot use global variables in Table Footer
I tried to use the global variables "totalpages" in my table footer to decide whether to hide or show if there are no records from the dataset.
But then I found out that global variables can only be used in page header/footer.
Is there any way i could check whether there's records returned, and hence control the visibility.

Right or wrong - but never mind me using stored procs for everything!
For ALL MS RS reports we use stored procedures - for everything...
So in every stored proc we count records in a lot of various ways - but primarily we use in the first line
Select
Count(1) as Expr1 - Expr1 is our indicator that data has been populated within the SQL Select for all records processed (may have some records or not)
You should never use Count(*) anyway because it does another "scan" of the DB to get the result...
So within MS RS the first thing we do is inspect EXPR1 for a value
No Value
Display "Selection Parameters Found No Information For Your Request" in a text box that was added to the Header of the Report
Else
Display the data within MS RS.
The header text box has an IIF condition and we BOLD in RED so it is visible for the users who do not like to read what they are getting
I don't know how to do if the SQL Select was a "TEXT" string versus a stored procedure! Probaly just as easy - I guess....
We have also in a lot of instances where we use a SQL Stored Proc driver which means and it works really nice if you have SELECTS <= 8000 characters...
We already know the fields to populate the MS RS REport so we just take the parameters passed - look up in a table the SQL for the particulare MS RS report and insert the parameters passed by MS RS so we always get a return value(s) from the SQL Stored Proc driver that performs and EXEC for the SQL select we pull from the table and then declare and insert in the SQL script the values the user passed from MS RS.
So the return value from the EXEC is passed back to use and we cast as EXPR1.
I got to "woordy" here - but nevertheless - I would hope that not only for no data from a Select is captured but also other error situations that might occur as well - so you can pass this information back as well especially if your environment is OLTP versus a warehouse...

CountRows(Scope) where Scope is your dataset. ex: Place=IIF(CountRows("MyDataset") = 0, True, False) as Visibility->Hidden->Expession for your object that you want to hide/show based on record count.

Cannot update some records on Sql server 2005
I have a problem on updating some records on sql server 2005.
I can update the records in the table apart from some records.
Records are added to table by a .net application.
When I try to update some records on the table (1-2 records ~1500 records) sql server shows "executing query" message but it cannot execute the update query for these records.
on the other records updating query works fine.

Cannot Update Records that contain NULL Values!

I am trying to use a formView with an update button to update individual records in an sql database. (when i click update it doesnt perform the update and just refreshes the page. ) One of the fields in my records is a NULL - this is also one of the fields that i need to update. When i manually go into the database and enter some data, and then go back to my form, it updates fine, but as soon as i delete the data from the field, it returns to NULL and im back to square one.
Any Ideas on how to get around this problem?

Then what's wrong? Since you delete the data from the field, it should be set to NULL. What do you expect to get after deleting the data? And what's meaing of "im back to square one"|||Fix your update statement. If you've used the wizard with "Check Original Values", then you are correct, it fails with nulls. You have to manually modify the update to handle nulls.|||yep.. i got it now... i had to change "compare all values" to "overwrite changes". That makes sense. you cant compare null values to each other.

When the Forigen Keys are exist the Truncate statement will not be executed on the master table, even it is disabled.
You have 2 options,
Option 1: Use Delete From <table name> & disabled constraint
Option 2: Drop the FK on the child table, use the truncate statement then recreate the FK on your child table.

Cannot see all records in report
On the data tab I can see 6 rows of data returned from a sproc
When I input these same parameters onto the report (preview) I can only see
the first or last record depending on the following:
=First(Fields!Year.Value) - gives me first
=(Fields!Year.Value) - also gives me first (I thought this would give me all
values)
=Last(Fields!Year.Value) - gives me last
I just threw the field on the report inside a rectangle which I have set to
put a page break after.
For simplicity, assume I only have to print the year on each page.. how do I
do that? At the moment, I can only print 1.

record to occupy 1 page, I need to add a list or table and design that to
occupy one page, with a page break for the next record?

with a page break to force one record per page.
